Charity Challenge

We recently sent 5 members of staff on the Hope Challenge. Team Westerman consisted of Nigel Glenister, Julie Whitehouse, David Stothert, Adrian Biddulph and Ben Golding.

Habitat for Humanity organises the Hope Challenge, aimed at the construction industry and associated companies to raise money to enable them to provide affordable homes around the world.

Teams had to raise a £3,000, construct a shelter to sleep in for two nights, complete a 10km hike over Mam Tor, Derbyshire, incorporating a stretcher and memory challenge. Additionally, teams had to build a Raft, transport water and start a fire to then boil water. The winning company are given the opportunity to travel overseas and help a family in a third world country to build their home.

This was the first time the we had entered the event and our team came third overall.

Team Captain Nigel Glenister said “It was a brilliant weekend, with great teamwork and support throughout. It was a pleasure to be part of such a fantastic team.”

Managing Director, Robert Westerman added “We are so proud of our team. This was our first year taking part in the challenge, competing against some challenge ‘veterans’ who have been taking partfor a number of years. It is a fantastic result, a terrific cause and a great team event, and to have raised over £8,000 for the charity is amazing.”

The Westerman Team would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to the challenge for their kindness and generosity, along with sincere thanks to the Directors at W. Westerman Ltd for their support.
