Dave, who is the Site Manager at our development at Larwood Park in Kirby in Ashfield, found out the good news last month. A Pride in the Job award is the highest industry accolade a site manager can receive.
The Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide competition dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in house-building. It has been instrumental in driving up the quality of new homes for 37 years.
With more than 16,000 site managers nationwide competing for just 450 awards, this year’s Quality Award winners have been hand-picked for their excellent standards on site.
Following 12 months of rigorous judging, Dave, along with the other first round winners excelled and will now go on to compete for the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards.
Last year, the NHBC registered over 151,000 new homes in the UK; site managers play an important role in delivering these homes to their customers.
The winners are automatically entered into the competition based on the results of their work onsite.
As well as undergoing spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, each site manager is assessed across 37 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.
Dave, who has been with Western Homes since June 2015, is delighted with the award, says “The award is down to the site team and contractors and the hard work and care that they put into their work at Larwood Park.” Prior to joining W Westerman Ltd, Dave began his career in construction as an apprentice joiner, he worked in Social Housing for a number of years, progressing to a Site Manager in 2007.
Robert Westerman, MD of W Westerman Ltd, said, “This is fantastic news. On behalf of the Board we would like to express our congratulations to Dave and the site team, as well as everyone involved including subcontractors. Everyone can and should be proud of their contributions to this award.”
